The New Jersey Nets Support the Foundation
Patrons join to raise money and enjoy basketball game
On December 20, 2008, the New Jersey Nets and Miami Heat faced off at the IZOD Center for a match-up of between NBA Eastern
Conference teams. What made the night particularly special was that this game occurred on Diamond Foundation
Night. On this evening 25 patrons of the foundation supported the initiatives and programs of the foundation
by simply attending the basketball game. A portion of each ticket sold by the foundation was donated to the foundation.
As an added feature,
3 children from our group were invited down onto the court to greet the visiting Heat players and NBA superstar Dwayne Wade
as they entered the court for warm-ups and pregame introductions. As you can imagine this was an exciting experience.
The game proved
to be exciting despite the fact that the Heat won the game. Dwayne Wade was not only spectacular n the court but also
as he headed towards the locker room at the end of the game. One of our teenagers in our group is a very big fan of
Dwayne Wade. She spent much of the pregame warm up standing under the basket attempting to get his autograph.
Unfortunately she was unsuccessful. This however did not deter her. Given our access to the court, she was able
to return to the baseline during the second half and the end of the game. Her persistence paid off as Dwayne Wade gave
her his game jersey at the conclusion of the game. She was excited to say the leas and promised never treasure this
item forever. The Diamond Foundation appreciates the support and the partnership of the New Jersey Nets and looks forward
to our 2009 venture. So stay on the look out for mailings of events like this.
